This 2012, the game Slender Man became popular among the teenagers because of its jump scares and can actually give you chills. They say that it is fun aside from it being creepy that might give you a little heart attack at times.

In the game, the player’s objective is to collect all eight pages with certain messages on it that is located within the forest.  To get all the eight pages, you must navigate the whole forest without getting caught by Slenderman. As pages were collected, Slenderman will continuously follow you as the background music changes to suspense that will make you experience tension.

Based on Jen McEntire's article which I have found while researching about this particular legend, entitled Urban Legends: The Terrible Legend of Slender Man, Slenderman or Der Großmann (in German means “Tall Man”) is believed to be a really tall and thin man, with the height approximately of 6 to 7 feet(some says that it is possible that he's 15 feet tall), faceless, dressed in a black business suit and has an arm that has a length of 2 meters. It is said that he only captures and kills children who are 16 and younger some says that he rapes them to death (worse than pedobear). He has the power to control an individual, and he also has long tentacles and numerous arms that he can stretch up to 34 feet, enough to catch his victim. If he catches you, you’ll be waking up, tied, in a place where he was killed and he will ask you a question. If you get the right answer, he will break both your arms and legs, and if you get it wrong, he will slowly stick his long fingers on your neck down to get your heart.

Slenderman was a man who was killed and beaten by a log, stabbed with 2 feet stick, hung from a tree and his limbs pulled out from their sockets. In daytime, Slenderman most likely show up in open areas with trees, empty woods, or any are that is filled with trees. And at night, he often shows up in open windows, dark rooms, blank TV screens, sometimes, in large crowds of people. We don’t know, maybe there will be a day that Slenderman is right beside you. I also have read that Slenderman used to show and roam around with hot girls at night. So it can be a one reason for you to close your doors and windows at night!

Jen McEntire also stated a story in relation to Slenderman, a Romanian folktale that tells us a story of twin sisters: Sorina and Stela that were led into the woods by their mother. They could see Der Grossman (or Slenderman) close by; waiting, and dressed as a nobleman. His arms were long and boneless as snakes and sharp as swords. Under the order of Der Grossman, the mother, told Stela to draw a circle in the ground with a knife and have Sorina lay down in the middle of the circle to be cut open. Stela rejected her and ran home to hide under her bed. When their faher returned home, Stela told her father what happened and her father went out to search for her mother. The girl fell asleep and awakened by a knock on the door. "Open the door, it's your father," the voice said. The girl refused. "Open the door, it's your mother," the voice continued. Refusing once again, the door opened and Stela saw her mother holding her twin's head, cut off, and her father's on the other hand. Stela asked her why, and her mother said "Because, there is no reward for goodness in this world, nothing but cold steel teeth and scourging fire for all of us. And it's coming for you now." After that, Der Grossman killed Stela.

The story shows how Slenderman can control humans, and on how he kills children. He seems unstoppable, ain't he? Based on TheLost's article about Slenderman, There are signs and symptoms that Slenderman is coming for you.

○ Coughing up blood
○ Slenderman can mess with technology
○ Memory loss
○ Hallucinating
○ Nighmares about him
○ Drawing the symbol (a circle with an "X" through it)
○ Diarrhea
○ Vomiting

It is said that children can see Slenderman while adults couldn't, they also have dreams about Slenderman before their disappearances. And he seems to befriend those children first before abducting them.

Also, Slenderman has this following traits:

○ Slenderman will find interest in a victim for reasons unknown
○ It would then contact the victim, if it is a child, he will present himself as friendly.
○ Not to mention, he also stalks adults eventually and they have their common traits: they have been through a terrible tragedy in life and the tragedy might been made by Slenderman himself.
○ If an adult, he will stalk the victim for a long time that will give the victim a "Slender sickness" that causes paranoia, nose bleeds, nightmares, hallucinations appearing to only sick person, and any other dangerous symptoms.
○ Eventually, it would abduct the victim into nearby forest, where they would be killed.
○ In 'messy' cases,  he may remove the evidence of it's existence by causing fire on their home, place of work, or school.
○ Death of the victim originally occurred through an odd means- the victim would be impaled on branches with very tall trees while still alive, and bleed to death. The organs will be individually removed, then placed in plastic bags. They would then be replaced into the body, in their original positions, with the plastic bags. The victim's corpses do not show any sign of struggle.

There are also some videos and footage about Slenderman, as they recorded the stalking and attack scenarios of Slenderman. One of them is Marble Hornet, which is he recorded himself on how Slenderman followed him.

Moreover, I accidentally found this video, and it really captured my attention. I couldn't tell if it’s real of not because it seems real. This shows that this world is full of mysteries, I mean, where did these stories come from? There are still a lot of unanswered questions. That’s why there are people who don’t know where to believe. Though we are not sure and still confused, we have to be prepared and aware. We don't know, maybe, Slenderman will come after you to get you.

Have you ever wondered if stories such as an Urban Legend exist? Particularly, the most common stories you have heard somewhere.

There are people who merely believe about these stories and made them aware on their surroundings, some believes that they are just bluffs, and there are scientific explanations behind those stories. One of the reasons is because back then, elders often tell these kinds of stories to scare children for them to avoid going outside too much, especially, when it is nighttime and sometimes, some of the stories were all made up just for entertainment.

I found this article accidentally while roaming into the net, Ken Lace posted about "A woman with a lump in her tongue". It is an Urban Legend that is also called “Icky Envelope,” “Envelope Roaches,” and “Woman Licking Envelope” which I have found and it caught my attention because I can partially relate on this habit. This legend was circulating around the internet and mails way back around 2000, so that means that this legend is old, even so,  popular because there might be some individuals that still research about this legend.

It is said that the legend was about a woman in California who worked in a post office and one day, she just licked some of the envelopes and postage stamps instead of using a sponge. The woman accidentally cut her tongue on the envelope. A week later, she noticed an abnormal swelling of her tongue.

She went to the doctor and found nothing is wrong. It was not sore or anything and she’s perfectly fine, but a couple of days later, her tongue started to swell more, and it began to get really sore that she could not even eat. So she went back to the hospital, and told the doctor that there really is something wrong with her tongue and demanded that something has to be done.

The doctor took an X-ray of her tongue and he noticed something so he prepared a surgery for her. After cutting her tongue open, a live cockroach crawled out, and told that there were roach eggs on the seal of the envelope and the egg was able to hatch inside of her tongue because it was warm and moist that made a perfect place for the egg to hatch.

It is also said that it was reported on CNN. Yes, it is really disturbing, since most of us use our tongues instead of using sponge because we think that it would be easier and faster. But there is this person named “ripleysmom” in a certain discussion called Disboards and he stated his opinions regarding about the legend, which he believes that it is not true and just a hoax.

“First of all, the story was not reported on CNN. Pasting such authoritative-sounding taglines into the text of hoaxes circulating on the Internet in an effort to give them credibility is commonplace, and this is just another case of some nameless prankster doing just that.

Second, no one knows who "Andy Hume" is, so why give his supposed comments about working in an envelope factory any credence? It ain't all that tough to make up a comment and a name to go with it. If "Andy Hume" works for CNN, it's news to them. Searches of news databases for any reporter of that name turn up one who writes for The Ottawa Citizen, and wider searches turn up a British sports figure who also carries that name. There was also a Washington reporter, Sandy Hume, who killed himself in February 1998. But there's also no reason to assume any of those folks penned the comment now being circulated as a bolster to the e-mail.” Ripleysmom stated.

His statement somewhat convinced me. In addition, a cockroach’s egg is almost a size of a bean so isn't it a little bit obvious for you to swallow a roach’s egg? Nevertheless, after reading the legend, though it was obviously a hoax, I would never lick envelopes again, because we never know where it came from.

Moreover, we will never know what little things are mixed in the glue that was used, I even read someone that the water came from the used mop.

Have you ever heard someone talking about weird stuff like when you chant and call “Bloody Mary” 13 times on exact midnight, in front of a mirror in a darkened room, only having a light coming from a single candle and then a woman will be summoned and will appear inside the mirror that will either kill you or will curse you to –death? It is one of the Urban Legends called Bloody Mary ; in fact, there are lots of different kind of stories like these circling through-out the net and everywhere. So what is this “Urban Legend”?

While I was searching about Urban Legends, I happened to find this particular article on the net entitled  “What Exactly ARE Urban Legends?” by David Emery. David stated that Urban Legends actually are popular stories that are told by someone you don’t even know whom that story came from or it is usually passed from a person to another person. They are a type of folklore –beliefs and traditions of people, and it is really hard to find where the story came from because it is passed through Interpersonal Communication. He also answered some questions to make everything clear and to make people understand what really Urban Legend is and he did a great job on answering and explaining them at the same time.

I also have learned that not ALL of the Urban Legends are scary, because there are different kinds of it, there are humiliating, humorous, supernatural events and I could say the most popular is the horror and the terrifying one that you can hear anywhere.

Some of them seems like they’re not real, but who knows? Especially the terrifying events that is neither possible nor impossible to be encountered. What if there will be a chance that you’ll run over a beautiful-trench-coated woman and will randomly ask you if she’s beautiful or not, and will kill you because of telling her the truth that she’s beautiful afterwards; or if you eventually found out that there’s a corpse under your bed in a hotel room you have checked in, isn't that a reason to be aware?

“Yes, every now and then, they do. See “The Body in the Bed” for one example. Often, legends that are demonstrably false in their particulars turn out to be based on a kernel of fact, however slight.” David answered when someone asked him if Urban Legends ever turned out to be true. I agree about what he have said, that’s why, though we’re not that sure about the most of the story we could hear, we still have to be aware, because there’s a lot of mystery on the earth that no one can explain. You don’t know, you missed a chain message that is actually authentic without you having any idea that it is really true and you got it deleted.

There is nothing wrong on being aware, isn't it? And we must not take risks. Though there are people who try to prove if these legends are real, what if they’re really real? First, we have to make serious research before doing this.

My little Introduction

Good day!

First of all, I would like to introduce myself. I’m Pamela, but you can just call me “Pam."

This will be my VERY, very first time posting articles since I am not that diligent to do things such as these. I do read articles, but most of them were randomly picked and I never thought of doing blogs about my reactions regarding to them, I am not that fascinated to write about them, really, because I just read, react a little and go.

Moving on, the topic I have thought would be all about Urban Legends, from particular countries, and different kinds of places. I was thinking about doing Online Games and MMORPGs but I found it hard since there’s too many of them so I chose Urban Legends since I think it'll be a lot easier to talk about, though I have to be gutsy for I am going to search about creepy stuffs for three whole months.

So expect more that I will be posting creepy pictures and stories that might give you Goosebumps here as well –and if you’re the type of person who gets scared easily, reading this in daytime would be a really good idea.

Anyways, hoping that you’ll have fun on reading my posts!
